More places to go mountain biking in and around Chamonix


Vallorcine
A beautiful valley on the Swiss border. Great tracks to Emosson, La Jeux and Col du Balme. Small tracks along the valley floor.

Lognan / Grand Montet
High alpine riding - two very tough mountain trails to the villages of Argentiere & Lavancher - 800m descent…………..Wear a helmet !

Brevent / Flegere
The Petit Balcon Sud runs along the base of the Brevent and Flegere areas. Through alpine
downhill trails from both cable cars - 1000m vertical.

Les Houches
A number of valley floor trails. Some great alpine tracks accessible from the two main cable cars. (Bellevue 1800m & Le Prarion 1966m)
Most of the valley floor tracks continue on to the next village.
It is possible to ride a full circuit of the valley (16km). Starting in Chamonix this should take approximately half a day.

In the August a mountain bike policeman patrols around Chamonix and Bois du Bouchet.
It is his job to keep bikers off many of the trails so pedestrians have exclusive use of them.

Chamonix is surrounded by many other valleys that also provide good mountain biking. The valley of Vallorcine near Switzerland has a number of trails. The area of Megeve has a huge variety for all abilities. From Chamonix intrepid bikers can venture out on the Tour du Mt Blanc.
For the competitor "The Grand Raid" is a fantastic MtB competition traversing 131km of the Swiss
Alps from Verbier to Grimentz.

Although Chamonix is a narrow valley it has numerous trails that run its length from north to south. The area of Les Bois has many tracks for all levels of ability. The most common tracks are the Petit Balcon Nord and the Petit Balcon Sud.

High Trails in Chamonix
All the cable car systems run in the summer so Chamonix has a lot of high alpine riding for keen
riders who want something a little different. Col du Balme is a fantastic area with trails to
Switzerland.
